Chapter 6

"W-What?" Spook finally managed to wrestle some words out of her mouth. "I've been living in the Alleyways since I was a kit!"
"Well, your ancestors took over our's territory. The Alleyways are rightly ours," Snap hissed.
Spook growled in return. She wanted nothing to do with this.
"Snap? Lavender. . .Let's not argue," A calico she-cat entered the den. She dropped a pile of herbs down, onto a little indent in the den's wall. "How about you go and sort those?" The she-cat flicked her tail to the herbs. With some grumbling, Snap and Lavender obeyed.
"Now," The calico's gaze flitted to Spook. "How. . . .about you come with me?"
Spook hesitated, but if she could get away from Snap and Lavender, she would gladly follow. The calico led her out of the den silently. As they slid out of the den, Spook saw a few more clusters of them. She rather enjoyed the earthy, fresh smell of the forest.
"So, what's your name?" Spook asked, trying to stir up conversation.
"Flick," The she-cat meowed in reply. "Sorry about Snap's attitude, but he is quite right. All I can tell you is. . .prepare for an attack. I really hate betraying my clan, but I hate fighting even more."
"We did nothing! That was the past," Spook hissed.
"Well, come meet Moon. She was a kit during the battle for the Alleyways," Flick changed direction. The two she-cats crept into a large, comfortable looking den. A silvery cat looked up.
"That's Moon," Flick whispered. The battle must've been some time ago, because Moon look about ready to drop and die any moment. White hairs had tooken over her gray muzzle fur. Sensing Spook's attitude towards Moon, Flick hissed, "Be respectful. Remember she's had a hard life since the battle."
"B-Battle," Moon suddenly rasped. "I hate those c-cats. . ." Her voice quivered, from anger or old age, Spook didn't know.
Flick quickly ushered Spook out. "Let's get to Talon. See what he says about escorting you back."
They entered a rather large den. A gray tom sat, waiting. He yawned, almost as if he was bored. His muscles rippled under his gray furred pelt.
"So who are you?" Talon asked, eyeing her with a slightly amused smirk. "You're a little skinny, eh? Don't the Alley Cats know how to take care of themselves?"
Flick laughed, before padding out of the den. Spook swore Flick gave her a 'good luck, you're on your own now' look.
"I'm Spook. And yes, of course we know, mouse-brain," Spook frowned. "Or maybe we give the prey to our queens and elders before eating ourselves."
"We do too," Talon paused, but then smiled cooly and murmured in a sickly sweet voice, "Only difference? We have more prey."
Spook rolled her eyes. "So why do you want the Alleyways anyways?"
"Power of course," Talon shrugged as if everycat should know it.
"So you are risking the lives of your cats for power," Spook shook her head at him.
Talon blinked calmly. "Got a problem with that?"
"Agh, you annoy me."
"I was hoping I would," Talon chuckled with a satisfied smile.
"So, could I please go back to the Alleyways? I'm not sticking here."
"I'm afraid not."
"Why?!"
"'Cause I said so."
Spook lunged at him.

Chapter 7

"We're almost there," Talon yawned, his gaze drifting lazily. He was taking Spook back to the Alleyways in exchange for a tour around it. It had took some time to get Spook to agree.
"Mmf," Spook sighed, unhappy and moody. The she-cat was almost forced into doing this. If she didn't, she would be stuck in Talon's clan. She shuddered. The cats were friendly and all, but. . .it wasn't her home or birthplace. Her mind wandered to Flick's warning. Expect a battle. For power, as Talon said. The thought of being driven out of the Alleyways hardened her only friendliness towards Talon and his clan.

After several minutes, Spook asked, "Where is it? I thought you said we were almost there."
"I did. But I'm wrong. Went in the wrong direction."
"And you tell me that now?!"
"Sorry," Talon shrugged, undisturbed. "We'll have to go tomorrow. Way to far from the Alleyways to get there today." He lifted his head up to the setting sky. Stars were starting to appear. Some gray clouds were covering the sky as well. It was going to rain again. Spook let out a frustrated, tired noise. She felt like crying.
"Let's get back to your clan then," Spook turned around.
"Too late for that," Talon blinked, as if it was a calming thing. Spook felt too irritated to argue or protest, so she meowed flatly, "Can you get us to a shelter then?"
Talon grinned. "Why of course."

Spook followed Talon and the short walk seemed like forever. Although the soil was moist and the grasses were soft, her paws and legs started to ache. The wounds from the badger added to the soreness and pain. Finally, they slipped into a small cave. Spook was half asleep when they tumbled into the den. Talon scraped two shallow holes into the ground, to sleep in. Not caring if it was muddy and dirty, Spook wedged herself in, curling into a tight ball of fur. The mud was actually cool and soothing to her body. Not before long, she drifted of.

Spook woke up to a black-blue sky, everything covered in stars. It was life land in the sky. Of course! Starclan. The she-cat silently padded throughout Starclan's territory. A breeze suddenly blew by, whirling in one spot, then molding into the form of a cat. Spook couldn't recognize the other she-cat standing before her, but she looked similiar to her.

"Don't trust him," The Starclan she-cat meowed softly, but her tone was serious.
"Who? Talon?" Spook asked.
The Starclan cat ignored her before murmuring in a whispery voice:

"From a mountainous cliff, a Rock will fall,
into a puddle of Rain. Another, Ripple, into the Lake.
With a shove, with a push, with a Swish a feather falls in,
creating chaos and hate.
Three will battle, only Two will survive.
The hawk's Talons will pierce the Rock, ending one life and trouble.
The shadow's Spook will drive out Death,
And the Creek's gentle waves will sooth the disputes."

With that, the Starclan cat departed and Spook woke to the crackle of thunder.

Chapter 8

Spook couldn't sleep. She sat upright in her nest shivering with fear. What had the cat ment? The words were deeply etched inside her mind, impossible to forget. She could make out Talon's sleeping body just a few mouse-tails away. The Starclan cat's warning made her shrink away, deeper into her muddy nest. Spook was still unsure if it was Talon the Starclan cat had warned her about. If it was, maybe she should sneak out now. . .BOOM! Lightning crackled, illuminating everything in a flash of light. The rain seemd to reject her idea and fell faster and harder, like bullets of water. She stuck her head out, wincing at the coldness and power of the little drops of rain. Even if she wanted to, it would be impossible to go.

+Back in the Alleyways+

Broken Light ran a rough tongue overher dark gray fur. She glanced at the closed doorway. "The storm is here. . .Where's Spook?"
"Not to worry, our sweetie will be fine. I'm sure she's heading back right now," Ink murmured, gently brushing her tail against the other queen's. Although she was probably more concerned then Broken Light, she slathered her voice with reassurance.
"Mm," Broken Light glanced at her, wanting to believe her, but unable to bring herself to do it.

*Mini Timeskip*

It had been around a moon now since Spook returned to the Alleyways(and treated), shown Talon around before chasing him off. No attack had been landed yet, but tension rippled through the air. Broken Light had kitted just about a half moon after Spook came back. The queen had decided to name them Stream, Jay, and Stone. And to Spook's distaste and horror, Rain announced she was with Rockie's kits. One day, Spook padded in to pay the queens a visit. Immidiately, two kits were hurdled at her.
"Oof!" Spook sat down, looking into two pairs of eyes. One green-blue and the other plain blue. "You two have grown so much already!"
"Spook! You come see us?" Stone pushed his tiny pink nose into Spook's paw fur. Jay tried climbing up her side, but Broken Light quickly pulled him off.
"Thank goodness you're here, they've been bouncing around all morning for you," The queen purred. Stream hid behind her mother's legs.

Rain sniffed, holding her pretty head in a regal poise. "You have that right."
"Oh Rain, your kits will be like that too," Spook smiled, sweet to Broken Light, but hidden underneath it, only for Rain to see, was a grin of mockery and almost a sneer. Ink was still sleeping in her nest. It wouldn't be long until her kits arrived. She was more exhausted by the day. Spook sighed, and after licking each kit on the forehead, she departed with a brisk, "See you later." Now. . .She needed to talk to Star.

Chapter 9

In the middle of a wet, rainy, thunderstorm, a gray tom signaled his clan to gather.
"Flightclan! It is time to take back," The tom's green eyes gleamed through the blankets of rain, "what is rightly our's."
Several cats yelled approval, while others lingered back with hesitation, clearly not seeing the point in the Alleyway battle.
"It's time to go. Now is time to show your loyalty," The tom almost growled, as if challenging them not to come. He lept off of a slippery, tall pile of rocks, and headed out. The clan followed. With stealth and quietness, hidden by the roar of thunder, the mass of cats streamed into the dark Alleyways. Screams quickly erupted through the dark of the night.
Spook woke, Lavender, and Sky stirring beside her as well. Two Flightclan cats slipped through a small hole into the old, rundown twoleg house they were resting in. In a flash, Sky darted forward and scraped a tom's muzzle, splattering blood onto his dark, spotted pelt. Lavender wove around to tackle a brown she-cat.
"They'll manage fine," Spook mumbled to herself before creeping out of the house. A flood of pelts surrounded her and claws clashing, tearing, filled her ears. The scent of new, fresh blood masked any other scent. Suddenly, a gray tabby lept onto a twoleg house roof. "Flameclan, attack!"
Three groups of cats - fighting for an old, rundown twoleg area. Spook hissed as she shoved through cats, to get to the old shed, where Broken Light, Ink, and (ug) Rain was nursing their kits. Rain's kits were born just a few sunrises ago, a tom and a she-cat. Thistle and Fern, healthy as could be. Ink had her kits a few sunrises after Rain, four energetic one. Cherry, Speckle, Breeze, and Whisker. Spook panted, in sight of the shed now. Two Flameclan toms, along with a Flightclan she-cat were battering at the shed door. Spook could catch glimpses of Ink and Broken Light, their pelts drenched in blood, slashing back. Before she could dash to help, somebody knocked her to the ground. She growled, struggling to her feet. In front of her, Talon stood with an amused smirk. Without a pause, Talon lashed out a paw, scarlet beads soon speckling on him. Spook hissed, struggling to see. He had hurt her a bit above the eye.
"You made a mistake, agreeing to that deal," Talon smiled. He then darted forward and bit deep down into Spook's leg. The Flightclan leader moved around her in a blur, lashing out blows quickly before moving on. She didn't stand a chance. A thought suddenly struck her. The badger she had fought - it had suffered the blood in its eyes too. Fight like the badger. A small burst of energy propelled her into Talon, and without hesitation, Spook tore at his fur and skin and muscle, grimancing at the splatters of blood that was drenching her paws and claws. With a grunt, Talon pushed her off, eyes glittering with menace.
Spook hissed before dashing off. She didn't want to mess around with Talon right now. The kits. . . .Spook dashed off. Apparently, Ink and Broken Light had fought of the three clan cats. Now they were struggling to battle off a black cat that reeked of blood and Flameclan. To her horror, the tom burst into the shed. Spook ran faster, faster, but couldn't get there in time. The tom let out a maniacal cackle as he crushed the spine of a kit and threw another, and flung one more against the wall with a sickening crack. With a stab of pain and fury, Spook lept onto the tom, and mercilessly, began scratching and biting every part of the tom she could get.
The tom ran off, spitting. Spook turned, dread filling her stomach. Cherry layed on the ground, her spine snapped in a strange angle. Her once bright amber eyes were now lifeless and dull and glassy, almost fake. Stone was at the edge where the wall met the floor, his neck cracked, the bone jutting out. His eyes were closed, as if he was just merely sleeping. And finally, Thistle was sprawled out of the floor, appearing alive at first, but the lack of rise and fall from his body signaled he was dead. The other kits huddled in the corner, almost scared to death. Ink, Rain and Broken Light watched mournfully.
"I swear, I will kill that tom if it's the last thing I do," Spook growled.
